Engineers who want to evaluate and develop software on the recently introduced TMS320F2833x floating-point digital signal controllers (DSCs) can do so using the F28335 eZdsp starter kit. The kit, produced by Spectrum Digital Inc., a member of the TI DSP Third Party Network, is a standalone tool that provides developers a platform to easily develop software for the F2833x controllers. The development platform provides all the hardware and software necessary for evaluation and software development, ultimately cutting design cycle time and associated costs. Included with the kit are an F28335 target board, TI’s Code Composer Studio Integrated Development Environment (version 3.3), a universal ac power adapter, and a USB cable. The target board features the 150-MHz, 300-MFLOPS F28335 DSC with 512 KB of flash, 68 KB of RAM, and a 128k x 16 off-chip SRAM. Now sampling, the F28335 controller is the industry's first floating-point DSC, supplying developers of industrial systems with the inherent floating-point advantages of performance and simplified software development over fixed-point devices. The F28335 eZdsp costs $495 and is available for order now. Shipments will begin on Oct. 15. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
