A new COTS communications platform developed by Techaya gives Fast Ethernet capabilities to OEMs that need internal IP connectivity in small avionic and autonomous vehicle systems, such as UAVs. The MILTECH 309, an ultra-compact Fast Ethernet switch on board (ESoB), measures 2.79 by 1.69 by 0.43 inches—smaller than a credit card—and weighs a mere 0.09 lbs. The unmanaged, eight-port, military-grade switch operates at 10 and 100 Mbits/s, and at wire speed across all ports. It’s installable on system-level boards to provide full Ethernet connectivity using board-to-board connectors. Power consumption is 2 W. It requires 5 V dc, which can supplied through a USB connection. The MILTECH 309’s ruggedized design complies with MILSTD-461E, MILSTD-810F/G/GM and IP68 when installed in an appropriate enclosure. The device is available through WLANmall.
