Automatically equalizing each channel, the MAX3815 automatic cable equalizer for HDMI v1.3 TMDS applications is capable of compensating for 0 to 35m of 24 AWG HDMI cable or 0 to 22m of 28 AWG HDMI cable running TMDS data at rates up to 2.25 Gb/s. The device is compatible with HDTV resolutions of 720p, 1080i, 1080p, and 1080p with 30- to 36-bit color. It also supports VGA to WUXGA computer resolutions and features three differential data channels, one clock channel, and a loss-of-signal output, which automatically squelches the outputs when a clock signal is not present. Additionally, the device operates from a 3.3V supply and consumes 0.6W. Available in a 48-pin, 7 mm x 7 mm TQFP, prices start at $5.99 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA.
