The NB4N507A is a fully integrated phase lock loop (PLL) designed to replace expensive crystal oscillators for clock generation in a variety of consumer and networking applications. The IC generates a clock signal ranging from 50 to 200 MHz via an inexpensive crystal oscillator. The maximum rms period jitter is less than 10 ps, which is half that of other silicon PLL devices. This is comparable to the jitter produced by expensive crystal oscillators. Stability is also similar to that of crystal oscillators, at 100 ppm. The device is fully configurable and can be used to generate different frequencies within a system and can be reused on future designs regardless of changes in timing requirements. It is fabricated in bipolar technology. The IC is housed in a 16-pin SOIC package. Price is $1.50 each/1,000. ON SEMICONDUCTOR, Phoenix, AZ. (800) 282-9855.
