Level Shifters Support 3V/5V SIM Cards

Aug. 1, 2001
Designed to translate the voltages between a subscriber identification module (SIM) card and an external microcontroller, the NCN6010 and NCN6011 level shifter analog ICs provide the power conversion, digital-signal level-shifting and ESD protection

Designed to translate the voltages between a subscriber identification module (SIM) card and an external microcontroller, the NCN6010 and NCN6011 level shifter analog ICs provide the power conversion, digital-signal level-shifting and ESD protection of 6 kV and 4 kV, respectively, for 3V or 5V GSM cellular telephone SIMs. Both devices integrate a programmable 3V or 5V SIM supply, conformable to the 11.10 GSM test specification. The NCN6010 includes a dc/dc converter, making it capable of driving any type of SIM, whereas the NCN6011 handles all signals needed to control data transactions between card and microprocessor. The NCN6010 and NCN6011 are available in a TSSOP-14 package priced at $1.11 and $0.83, respectively, each/10,000. ON SEMICONDUCTOR, Phoenix, AZ. (602) 244-4195.
