New 10-Gbps Optical Receiver Sports Standard Footprint

May 1, 2003
Converting optical to electrical signals in single-channel or dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) optical networks, the PGR20402 surface-mount receiver integrates an InGaAs PIN photodiode with a low-noise MMIC transimpedance amplifier (TIA).

Converting optical to electrical signals in single-channel or dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) optical networks, the PGR20402 surface-mount receiver integrates an InGaAs PIN photodiode with a low-noise MMIC transimpedance amplifier (TIA). Compliant with a leading small footprint design, the PIN-TIA receiver operates from a -5.2V supply, connects via an industry-standard fiber pigtail to FC/PC, SC, ST or LC connectors, and boasts of high sensitivity (-19 dBm), wide dynamic range (22 dB), and high gain. In addition, a high bandwidth figure (typically 9 GHz) qualifies the device for use in systems with a forward error correction (FEC) capability.
