Part of a family of three, the VSC7773 is described as the first optical receiver on the market to support a data rate of 4 Gb/s in Fibre Channel applications. The device meets the recent INCITS/T11 standard and is both backward compatible and comparable in cost to existing 1 Gb/s and 2 Gb/s devices. Additionally, it integrates a photocurrent monitor that reports on received optical power as required by the SFP digital diagnostic standard. The remaining family members, the VSC7971 and VSC7973, offer the same features as the VSC7773 except that they operate at 1 Gb/s to 2.5 Gb/s. Other shared features include operation from a single 3.3V supply and a power consumption of 25 mA.
