Focusing on next generation VoIP equipment, the CPC5621A LITELINK III single-chip phone line interface promises to improve connections between VoIP-enabled host equipment and circuit-switched telephone networks. The device includes 3 kVRMS of optical isolation, as well as high-voltage isolation, ac/dc phone line terminations, two-to-four wire hybrid functions, on- and off-hook detection, caller ID, and ring detection. Features include an adjustable transmit power, selectable single-supply 3.3V or 5V operation, full network telephone compatibility, and compliance with all major international telephone standards. Second-harmonic distortion is typically 80 dB below a -3 dBm, 600 Hz signal. An application circuit is available that passes K.21 lightning tests with up to a 6 kV, 10 x 700 µs waveform without a K.21 standard primary protector or additional components. Price is $2.41 each/10,000. For more details, call Steve Andrezyk at CLARE INC., Santa Clara, CA. (978) 524-6912.
