Dubbed the most integrated PON/SFP controller and monitor to date, the DS1875 provides all control and monitoring features necessary for PON transceivers as well as the monitoring features for video control in tri-plexer applications. A state-machine design eliminates the need for software development. The device integrates an APD boost converter, ten 13-bit ADC channels, six DAC channels, a temperature sensor, and 384 bytes of user EEPROM. It also features a startup control loop that supports laser initialization in less than 5 ns. The receive-power monitor provides 29 dB of dynamic range and programmable APD-overload protection. Available in a 38-pin, 5 mm x 7 mm TQFN package, pricing begins at $2.50 each/10,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
