Dubbed the WM819x family, this set of integrated analog front ends (AFEs) supports high-speed, high-quality imaging performance. Combining both analog pre-processing and A/D conversion on a single chip and maintaining pin compatibility with previous generation products, WM819x chips can operate at resolutions of 14 or 16 bits and speeds of 6 or 12 MSPS. All parts have three analog inputs with individual analog pre-processing sections for color depths of up to 48 bits-per-pixel. Alternatively, a single analog channel can operate at higher speed to take full advantage of the ADC conversion speed in monochrome mode. These devices allow users to take advantage of the higher throughput rates of new interface standards such as USB2 and IEEE 1394. The WM819x family provides a complete solution for interfacing to CCD sensors in a variety of high-performance imaging applications, including X-ray scanners.
