In its sixth generation, BlueCore6 touts industry-leading radio performance and power consumption, and provides full support for the latest version of Bluetooth specification (v2.1+EDR). It employs AuriStream technology, said to offer a radical improvement to the way Bluetooth handles voice traffic yielding toll-quality voice calls and a 40% reduction in power consumption. The device delivers Class 1 Bluetooth range without the need for an external power amplifier and an 11-dB link margin improvement over BlueCore4 (+4 dBm to Tx, -7 dBm to Rx). In terms of packaging, it comes in the company's wafer level CSP format and is reportedly smaller than comparable Bluetooth silicon. Production availability is set for January 2008.
