The set is said to provide the industry's highest level of integration.The chipset supports OC-48 and OC-192 port speeds with a maximum bandwidth of 160 Gb/s.The VSC871 communicates in-band with the VSC881via integrated SerDes. A fully redundant, 160-Gb/s system requires only 24 TeraStream chips, 16 on the line cards and four per switch card, versus a typical implementation of more than 200 chips.
