Targeting the convergence of voice and data networks, the company's new familiy of time slot interchange(TSI) digital switches is offered as having the widest range of price and switch-capacity options in the industry. To serve the needs of the packet networking market, these switches are offered in capacity ranges from 128 x 128 to 4K x 4K, with expansions beyond 4K x 4K expected by the end of this year.
These switches are based on traditional time-division multiplexed (TDM) interface standards. They are capable of maintaining an interface with traditional telephony-based standards while providing the ability to switch and route digital telephony signals during the transfer of voice information. Features include PCM protocol support (ST-Bus/GCI), buffered data modes, a simple microprocessor interface and control, a JTAG port on most models, and 3.3-V operation. The devices are currently sampling in 128 x 128 to 4K x 4K capacities, with production quantities available in 128 x 128 and 256 x 256.
