Synch Module Available As One-Chip Solution

The company’s miniature SM3 synchronization module is now available as a stand-alone chip, with the device providing a synchronous timing source in SONET/SDH network elements. The STC3500 chip is the same engine found in the SM3 module and is compliant with Telcordia GR-1244-CORE, GR-253, ITU-T G.812 Type IV, and ITU-T-G813 Option 1 when deployed with an appropriate oscillator. The IC can operate in free-run, locked, or hold-over modes and supports master/slave operation with continuous input-reference quality monitoring. It accepts eight auto-frequency detect reference inputs from 8 kHz to 77.76 MHz and one 8-kHz cross reference. The input reference frequency can be manually selected or automatically detected. Other features include four output signals, adjustable output phase in slave mode, a 0.05 ppm hold over accuracy, and a configurable bandwidth filter from 0.08 Hz to 1.4 Hz. Price is $98 each/1,000.
