Providing low-voltage ASICs and CPUs with a USB-compliant physical layer interface, the MAX3453E-to-MAX3456E USB transceivers feature USB D+ and D- data lines that are protected against ESD to ±15kV per the human body model. Packaged in a 16-pin TQFN and a 14-pin TSSOP, the MAX3456E is a pin-compatible upgrade to the MIC2550A. The MAX3453E-to-MAX3455E, also available in TQFN and TSSOP packages, offer additional features via the unused pins of the MAX3456E. The MAX3453E and MAX3454E include a 1.5 kilohms pull-up resistor and an enumerate input, eliminating the need for an external resistor and allowing software control of USB enumeration, respectively. The MAX3454E-to-MAX3456E are compliant to USB specification revisions 1.1 and 2.0 and operate at both low speed (1.5 Mb/s) and full speed (12 Mb/s) while the MAX3453E is specified for full-speed operation only. Features common to each device in the series include a low-power suspend mode, the ability to work with ASICs operating down to 1.65V, and an extended temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. Prices start at $0.73 each/1,000-up. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
