Wireless Battery-Free Sensor Systems Available For Testing

Wireless battery-free sensor tags, based on UHF RFID technology, are able to continuously monitor and transmit data.

New wireless sensor devices from Farsens can be used without the need for batteries on the sensors. These full battery free sensor tags are based on UHF RFID technology and are able to continuously monitor and transmit data, together with the 96-bit EPC unique tag identifier, to any EPC Gen 2 standard compliant reader. The Battery Free Sensor kits come with their wireless battery free sensor tags of choice plus a commercial UHF RFID reader, a reader antenna, reader power supply, Ethernet cable and a software program that displays the sensor tag data on your computer. The sensor tags come in non-protected PCB formats for custom encapsulation or embedding in non-metallic assets/materials. Currently available for testing, there are four sensor options for both the Basic and Regular choices: the FENIX Battery Free Temperature Sensor (BFTS) focuses on temperature monitoring, the VORTEX Battery Free Pressure Sensor (BFPS) is for pressure monitoring, the KINEO Batter Free Orientation Sensor (BFOS) monitors spatial orientation of assets, and the X1 Battery Free Switch Sensor (BFSS) monitors the open/close status of a mechanical switch.
