Now available is what is claimed as the world's first SAW resonator with a frequency/temperature coefficient that is represented by a cubic curve. The EG-4101/4121CA are high-frequency, low-jitter and low phase-noise SAW oscillators that provide outstanding frequency stability over a wide temperature range. These oscillators employ a patented quartz SAW cut, with high frequency-temperature stability, very good phase-noise performance, and absence of frequency jumping. Until now, SAW resonators having temperature characteristics that are represented by a quadratic curve have not had a frequency/temperature coefficient as good as that of AT crystal units having cubic curve coefficients. These oscillators deliver frequency tolerance of ±5010-6; future versions are planned with tolerances of ±2510-6 or better. They support a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C (standard) or -40°C to +90°C (optional). They also support multiple output-load conditions (differential LV-PECL, LVDS, HCSL). Output frequency range is from 100 MHz to 700 MHz and required supply voltage is 2.5 ±0.125 V dc or 3.3 ±0.33 V dc. Phase jitter is specified as 0.2 ps maximum at 622.08 MHz, 12 kHz to 20 MHz. Package dimensions are 7.0 mm x 5.0 mm x 1.2 mm thick. Samples will be available in December 2009 with production units scheduled for the second quarter of 2010.
