SMT Oscillator Keeps Jitter Under Tight Control

Jan. 1, 2003
Touting a maximum offset jitter of just 1 ps and capable of operating over a 19.44 to 400 MHz frequency range, the Model R2950 SMT oscillator is primed for SONET and opto-networking applications at temperatures ranging from -40°C to 85°C.

Touting a maximum offset jitter of just 1 ps and capable of operating over a 19.44 to 400 MHz frequency range, the Model R2950 SMT oscillator is primed for SONET and opto-networking applications at temperatures ranging from -40°C to 85°C. The device meets the latest datacomm noise specification with a total jitter below 6 psRMS and provides a frequency accuracy of 0.005% (±50 ppm) over its temperature range. Waveform rise and fall times are 225 ps typical and waveform symmetry is specified as 45/55. The oscillator operates from a 3.3 Vdc supply and is available in two stability grades: ±100 ppm and ±50 ppm. These specs also take variations in supply voltage, load and temperature into consideration. Aging during the first year of operation is typically ±3 ppm and ±1 ppm per year thereafter.
