Incorporating the companyÕs proprietary InP process technology, a series of voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs) will soon be availableÑto alpha customersÑthat operate between 43 GHz and 50 Ghz with a 10% tuning range, making them suitable for use with an OC-768 chipset. Operating in the lab, these VCOs drive 50½ loads with a 300 mVp-p swing (-6 dBm) and operate on 128 mW of power typical. The device will be used as a building block for the phase-locked loops used in clock multipliers and clock recovery units that will be integrated into the companyÕs 40 Gb/s and greater mux/demux chipset currently in the design stages. Packaging for the device will be a proprietary design that will come with GPPO connectors. In addition, complimentary clock outputs will also be included.
