Exhibiting what may be the industry’s lowest noise and harmonic distortion figures, the LME49600 delivers the necessary output current to drive multiple low-impedance headphones and the voltage swing to drive several high-impedance headphones.

Exhibiting what may be the industry’s lowest noise and harmonic distortion figures, the LME49600 delivers the necessary output current to drive multiple low-impedance headphones and the voltage swing to drive several high-impedance headphones. Operating across a 180-MHz bandwidth, the device specifies a slew rate of 2 kV/ms and a 2.6 nV/ÖHz input referred voltage noise density. In a closed-loop configuration with the company’s LME49710 single op amp, THD+N is 0.00003%. The device can continuously source or sink 250 mA and offers pin-selectable bandwidth, including a low current, 30-MHz mode that consumes 8 mA and a180-MHz mode that consumes 15 mA. In both modes nominal slew rate is 2 kV/ms. Other features include a supply voltage range from ±2.25V to ±8V, current limiting, and thermal shutdown. Available now in a five-lead, surface-mount TO-263, price is $4.50 each/1,000. NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR CORP., Santa Clara, CA. (800) 272-9959.
