Under the family name of VastLane, the SiI9135 and SiI9125 high-definition multimedia interface(HDMI) 1.3 receiver chips address the market's current race into high-definition entertainment products. The SiI9135 is designed for use in audio/video receivers and is reportedly the first HDMI receiver to support high-bit-rate audio. It supports the latest HD audio formats such as Dolby True HD and DTS-HD. Users can pair the device with a SiI9134 transmitter chip for HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc DVD applications. The SiI9134 also supports up to 1080p resolution at 60Hz and 12-bit color depth. The SiI9125, tailored for use in high-definition televisions (HDTVs), is a dual-input receiver that fits directly into HDTVs as a drop-in upgrade to add HDMI 1.3. The device features a high-bandwidth digital content protection decryption engine that secures the digital link for transmission of video and audio. Additionally, it supports both Super Audio-CD and DVD Audio, including 7.1-surround audio at 192 kHz and stereo audio, also at 192 kHz. Both receivers support 10-bit and 12-bit color depths. Available now, prices for the SiI9135 and SiI9125 are $12 and $8 each/10,000, respectively. SILICON IMAGE INC., Sunnyvale, CA. (408) 616-4000.
