The light transmission and contrast of flat panel displays used in high ambient light environments is said to be significantly improved with a new anti-reflective coating. Called Duralan II A/R, the coating is expected to find use on laptop and portable and handheld product displays that encounter, for example, sunlight-caused viewing problems. The coating can also be combined with Duralan II filters to further improve viewability, as well as to add EMI/RFI shielding and ESD protection to the displays.
