Featuring an integrated Electro-Absorption (EA) modulator, the MQW distributed single-mode feedback (DFB) laser diode module is designed for 10-Gbs transmission in dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) optical systems. The NX8560-J-CC module can operate in systems as long as 40 km over standard single-mode fiber. Output power (under modulation) is -1 dBm minimum. Modulation voltage is 3V maximum and threshold current is 20 mA maximum. The device is housed in a hermetically-sealed, 7-pin butterfly package with a GPO connector RF input. Also in the package are an optical isolator, monitor photodiode, thermistor, and a thermoelectric cooler for increased efficiency. CALIFORNIA EASTERN LABORATORIES INC., Santa Clara, CA.
