A miniature cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) has been developed for backlighting large flat panel displays, such as 36" to 60" LCDs. Measuring only 2.4 mm in diameter and 440 mm long, the Model BF2440 generates 30,000 cd/m2, consumes less than 1W, and provides 20,000 hr. of lamp life at standard operating current. Starting price for the electrically- and optically-stable, vibration-resistant, cool-running lamp is $9.12 each/100; delivery is two weeks ARO.
