A new miniature 4-digit liquid crystal display has been developed with characters only 0.174" high. Model LCD-S401M14TF incorporates three decimal points, with displayed numbers ranging from 0.001 to 9999. It includes units of measure for pressure indication in PSIA, Mpa and kPa. Customized features can be developed in production quantities of 1,000 units. The LCD-S401M14TF is suited for equipment or instruments where a miniature pressure display is required, or in any application requiring a compact, 4-digit display with low power consumption. This transflective LCD utilizes twisted nematic LCD fluid against a gray background for good readability. An optional backlight is useful in environments with very low or even zero ambient light. The LCD is housed in a single in-line package measuring 6.35 mm long and with 13 leads on centers measuring 1.50 mm. Total package footprint size is 20.32 mm x 10.16 mm. Thickness is 2.80 mm maximum. The LCD operates from a 5.0 Vac supply over a temperature range of 0°C to +50°C. Storage temperature range is –20°C to +70°C. Price: $0.32 each/5K. LUMEX INC., Palatine, IL. (800) 278-5666.
