Quartz Crystal Resonators Available For Handheld Wireless Devices
Models in the CC5 series of true SMD quartz crystal resonators come hermetically sealed in packages that measure 4.1 by 1.5 by 0.85 mm. Currently available in a 32.768-kHz frequency, they're designed for small handheld wireless applications. They only require a 1-µW drive level with a typical ±3 ppm aging. Their frequency tolerance is ±30 ppm, and their standard operating temperature ranges from −40°C to 85°C. These resonators also withstand processing temperatures up to 260°C for up to 20 seconds. Shock resistance is 5000 g/0.3 ms/0.5 sine, and vibration resistance is 10 to 2000 Hz/20 g.
Packaged in a tape and reel, the CC5 models cost $1.66 each in 100,000-piece quantities. Delivery is from 10 to 14 weeks.

Organic Polymer Replaces MnO2 On Tantalum Capacitor Cathode Plate
Models in the T520 series of organic capacitors feature a tantalum anode and a tantalum-oxide (Ta2O5) dielectric. Also, they use a conductive, organic polymer instead of manganese oxide (MnO2) as their cathode plate. According to their manufacturer, they display 10% to 50% less ESR than equivalent standard tantalum types. A benign failure mode eliminates the ignition failures that can occur in standard tantalum types as well.
The company says that the T520 series has high frequency cap retention, volumetric efficiency, and surface-mount capability. Also, it has no wearout mechanism. It can reduce component counts, and it can eliminate through-hole assembly by replacing leaded aluminum capacitors. Initially, they come in 7343 and 7343L case sizes. Capacitance ranges from 100 to 330 µF, while the voltage ratings reach from 4 to 10 V. Depending on CV, maximum ESR limits go from 80 to 45 mΩ. And, all models are tape-and-reel packaged according to EIA 481-1.

Thin-Film Precision Resistor Networks Packaged In SOICs
The NOMC thin-film silicon precision resistor networks have a 7 or 8 resistance count. Tolerances are set to ±0.1%, and the resistance ratio matching goes to ±0.05%. Typically, their temperature coefficient is ±25 ppm/°C, while the temperature coefficient ratio tracking is ±5 ppm/°C. Resistance ranges from 100 Ω to 100 kΩ, and the standard off-the-shelf values are 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 100 kΩ. Standard Tamelox and custom tantalum-nitride resistor films are available, as well as standard and custom schematics. Packaging options include 14- and 16-pin narrow-body molded SOICs. All models come with industry-standard 50-mil-pitch lead spacing—MS-012 footprint—and a 1.6-mm height profile. Designers, then, can use these networks in applications that require precision feedback or dense packaging, like test, measurement, sensors, transducers, and voltage cross-current regulation circuits.

Wider Solder Area And Short Trip Time Enhance PTC Fuses
The PFMD series of polymer-based PTC fuses features slightly wider end-caps that increase the solder area, permitting a stronger solder connection. The series' flip-chip design, meanwhile, allows for mounting on either side. These miniature fuses also boast a maximum trip time of 20 ms at 8 A. They're available in ratings between 0.2 and 1.1 A, with interrupt ratings of 40 A and 6 to 30 V. All of the models have UL, CSA, and TUV approvals, and the terminal pad solderability meets EIA specification RS-186-9E and ANSI/J-STD-002 Cat. 3. Furthermore, they measure just 3.0 by 2.35 mm.
