Rugged Multi-Slot Portable Operates At Torrid Pace

Sept. 1, 1998

Network and telecomm testing, noise and vibration evaluation, and other demanding, compute-intensive test and measurement activities can be handled in the lab or on-site with a powerful new multi-slot portable computer. Housed in a self-contained, ruggedized package weighing under 20 lb., the PAC-PII fully-configured, workstation-class portable is powered by an up to 400-MHz Pentium II microprocessor supported by the 440BX chipset having a 100-MHz internal system bus.PAC-PII also features a bright, 12.1" active matrix TFT color display with SVGA or XGA resolution, four full-length, full-height expansion slots, a 250W power supply and the firm's proprietary turbulent-flow cooling system, and three drive bays for floppy and hard drives and a CD-ROM, tape backup, or similar device. I/O is provided by two UART 16550 serial ports, and one extended capabilities or enhanced parallel port. And system memory ranges from 32 to 256 MB of RAM.
