A series of semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) have been developed using a proprietary epitaxial (MOCVD) manufacturing process and a special structural design. The SOA modules are available in 1,310- and 1,550-nm versions and come in 14-pin butterfly or 14-pin dual in-line packaging. They provide a gain of 15 dB and a 3 dB passband from 1,280 nm to 1,610 nm.
