The TX53 Computer on Module from Strategic Test Corp. integrates the ARM Cortex A8-based Freescale multimedia processor i.MX53 with 1GHz clock speed. The i.MX53's support of multi-standard video with up to 1080p suits it for embedded applications with high-performance demands on graphic, video, and visualization.

Measuring 67.6 by 31 by 4.2 mm (2.6 by 1.2 by 0.16 in.), the TX53 features a 10/100Mbps Ethernet port with IEEE1588 support, two high-speed USB 2.0 ports, two cameras, and two CAN interfaces. It’s equipped with an LCD controller (up to 1600 by 1200) and a NEON SIMD Media Accelerator.

The processor also integrates a hardware graphic accelerator, which supports OpenGL ES 2.0 and Open VG 1.1. An optional dual LVDS display interface also is available. With up to 2GB of memory, the TX53 should find homes in data-intensive applications or devices with Android as an operating system.

The Freescale Longevity Program guarantees that the TX53, like all other Strategic TX modules, has a long-term availability of at least seven years. The TX53 module and the development environment will become available in the second quarter of this year.
