The TMS320C6205 chip melds a fixed-point DSP with an industry-standard PCI master-slave bus controller to allow the DSP to form a glueless interface to various systems- on-chip PCI interfaces are required for low-cost PC client applications, such as multi-mode modems, and are also gaining use as an embedded systems bus. A second DSP, 'C6204, offers I/O for telecomm infrastructure, imaging, and other systems. Both DSPs perform 1600 MIPS at 200 MHz, dissipate 1.2W (typ.), and offer 1 Mbit of internal memory, two multi-channel buffered serial ports (McBSPs), and more.
