The company's latest RTL and ISA FastCore embedded processor cores reportedly yield two to four times the performance of ARM, MIPS, and PowerPC cores implemented in standard synthesized static logic. Built on proprietary Fast14 technology, the cores are cycle-accurate, drop-in replacements , that preserve the same application software and test infrastructure as the original core. According to the company, the only alternatives for achieving this level of performance are licensing a new core with a more powerful architecture, using a multi-core device, or designing a custom core. In each case, the costs are higher. The RTL FastCore cores are available to existing licensees and do not require the licensing of new core architectures.
