Now available, the 1-GHz TMS320C6454 digital-signal processor relies on an improved TMS320C64x+ DSP core to provide twice the memory and I/O bandwidth of the TMS320C641x DSPs. The device also achieves twice the number of 16-bit MMACs and four times the EDMA throughput of the core used in the earlier devices. Features include 1 MB of memory, a 20% to 30% reduction in code size, 20% increase in cycle efficiency with support for frequently performed FFT, FIR, and DCT operations, and peripherals such as Gigabit Ethernet MAC and a 66-MHz PCI interface. For support, the C6455 EVM and DSK provide a complete modular development platform for both hardware and software. Available in a 24 mm x 24 mm, 697-lead BGA, price for the TMS320C6454 is $94 each/10,000. The C6455 EVM and DSK are available for $1,795 and $495, respectively. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX.
