DSP Lowers Price Bars

In its latest incarnation, the TMS320C6412 DSP, now running at 720 MHz, predicts overall system cost reductions in telecom infrastructure, networking, and high-resolution imaging applications. The device is code compatible with other TMS320C6xxx DSPs and is fully supported by the company’s software and tools. It is capable of 2,880-million 16-bit MMACs per second, allowing users to replace multiple DSPs with a single chip. Employing an enriched architecture, the device integrates an optimized mix of peripherals that includes an Ethernet MAC, PCI interface, host-port interface, enhanced direct memory access controller supporting up to 64 independent channels, and a 64-bit external memory interface. Price is $63.99 each/10,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
