Eliminating design work and providing time-to-market advantages are the goals of a new Excalibur series of power supply modules. These new 25W, dual-output power modules are targeted for use in digital signal processor-based applications, such as wireless base stations, cable modems, remote access servers, digital subscriber loop systems, and multimedia systems. Called the PT6930 series, the new devices are available with 3.3V/6A and 1.8V/1.7A laser trimmed outputs, with both output voltages independently adjustable with an external resistor. The second output voltage can also be adjusted as low as 1.2V to accommodate future ICs and DSPs. And the power modules' 5V input voltage makes it easy for designers to incorporate into them their existing power systems. The devices also boast of internal sequencing. Other features include remote sense for both outputs, standby, soft-start, and over-temperature protection. Housed in a 23-pin thermally efficient package, the series is available in surface-mount and vertical or horizontal through-hole configurations for $24.20 each/1000.
