Protecting high-speed data lines in portable applications, the ESD9L ESD protection device in an SOD-923 package exhibits a capacitance of 0.5 pF and clamps an input ESD waveform of 15 kV per IEC61000-4-2 to less than 7V in nanoseconds. The device is the result of a process technology that integrates ultra-low capacitance pin diodes with high power TVS diodes into a monolithic die. With a total capacitance of 0.5 pF, the ESD9L suits high-speed applications such as USB2.0 high speed (480 Mb/s) and HDMI (1.65 Gb/s). Its proprietary design also enables a small die size of 1 mm x 0.6 mm x 0.4 mm. Price is $0.15 each/10,000. ON SEMICONDUCTOR, Phoenix, AZ. (800) 282-9855.
