Touting a number of integration milestones, the Z8 Encore! XP family of flash microcontrollers includes a full-range temperature sensor and a transimpedance amplifier, as well as a sigma-delta a/d converter. The full accuracy of the converter is said to be realized across the MCU’s entire speed range. Depending on the device, features include operating speeds up to 10 MIPS, 4 KB of flash program memory, 348 bytes to 1 KB of RAM, 128 bytes of non-volatile memory, 8- and 16-bit timers, 5- and 8-channel 10-bit and 6-channel 8-bit a/d converters, and an array of I/O including UART, SPI, I2C, USART, SCI, and SPI interfaces. The MCUs come in 20- or 28-pin SOIC, SSOP, and PDIP packages with prices ranging from $0.89 for a 1 KB device to $1.44 for a 4 KB device, each/10,000. ZILOG INC., San Jose, CA. (408) 558-8500.
