For developing image-processing equipment, the SMT339 image-processing development platform enlists a TMS320DM642 DSP-based digital media processor from Texas Instruments and Virtex-4 FX-60 FPGA from Xilinx. The package also features a Phillips SAA7109AE/SAA7108AE video decoder/encoder, which supports most PAL and NTSC standards and can output processed images in PAL/NTSC or VGA (1,280 x 1,024, or HDTV Y/Pb/Pr). The SMT339 module can interface with a standard single-width TIM slot and be accessed via a standard serial or RSL interface. It can also run stand-alone, making it a worthy contender for embedded applications. SUNDANCE DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING INC., Reno, NV. (775) 827-3103.
