Claiming an edge over integrated CMOS line drivers, the EL1517 is designed for VDSL and ADSL line driving in Discrete Multi-Tone (DMT) based systems aimed at video-on-demand applications. The device employs the company's trench isolated complementary bipolar process to achieve a total power consumption of less than 500 mW per port. Delivering up to 250 mA from a 12V supply, it provides either an 18 Vp-p differential into 50W or 20 Vp-p into 100W. Other features include a 200 MHz bandwidth, quiescent current of 7 mA per amplifier, and typical output-distortion figures at full output of -80 dBc at 150 kHz, -75 dBc at 3.75 MHz, -60 dBc at 8 MHz, and –50 dBc at 16 MHz. Offered in a 16-MLF package measuring 4 mm x 4 mm (16 mm2 per port), price is $0.90 each/10,000. INTERSIL CORP., Milpitas, CA. (888) 352-6832.
