Promising to take the tedium out of designing multiple-output power supplies, the UCC2540 secondary-side, synchronous pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller is said to be the first such device with dual 3A TrueDrive outputs. These outputs allow for the design of multiple power stages that can deliver currents up to 50A and output voltages as low as 0.7V. Features include an input voltage range from 2.7V to 35V, switching frequency up to 1 MHz, a tracking function for sequencing multiple outputs, over- and reverse-current protection, and user-programmable shutdown. Operating temperature range is from –40°C to +105°C. Available in a 20-pin HTSSOP PowerPAD package, price is $1.85 each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924
