Described as a precision voltage-to-current converter/transmitter, the XTR111 manages standard 0 mA to 20 mA and 4 mA to 20 mA analog signals, plus 5 mA to 25 mA signals and voltage outputs. The device delivers current levels up to 36 mA and provides output error detection and output disable. Features include a supply current of 500 mA, drift span of 5 ppm/°C, and a wide 7V to 44V supply range. An external resistor sets the ratio between the input voltage and output current, and the circuit can also be modified for voltage output. Exhibiting an accuracy of 0.015%, the chip is suitable for use in current-mode sensor excitation and as a voltage-controlled current source. Available in a DFN-10 micro-package, price is $1.45 each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
