Detailed as a highly efficient charge pump that can generate regulated output current using two distinct operating modes, the SP6683 white LED charger functions as a 1.5x charge pump at low input voltages, boosting them to the desired forward current. The device drives up to eight LEDs in parallel while operating at 1.2 MHz and from a single 2.7V to 5.5V li-ion cell. Other features include inductor-less power conversion, 1x/1.5x operation, a 300 mA drive capability, 300 mV current sense reference with an option for 150 mV, PWM dimming control, and soft start.
