BLDC Speed Controller Omits Hall Sensors

The DECS 50/5 speed controller drives brushless DC (BLDC) motors without Hall sensors. Measuring about the size of a business card, the unit accepts an input-voltage range from 10V to 50V and delivers a continuous output current of 5A, giving it a maximum output performance of 250W. Speed value can be set via an internal potentiometer or an analog set value. Additionally, the amplifier can be operated at a maximum speed of 80,000 rpm. Other features include control inputs for selecting motor direction, enable, and braking, an operating-status LED, and a speed-monitor output. MAXON MOTOR USA, Fall River, MA. (800) 865-7540.
