DC Motor Drive IC Is Serially Controlled

product pic

With a DMOS H-bridge capable of handling continuous currents of ±2A and operating voltages to 50V, the A3958SB and A3958SLB serially-controlled dc motor driver ICs are controlled via a 3-wire serial port. The DMOS output transistors feature a low RDS(ON) rating of 270 milliohms and are synchronously rectified during PWM operation for low power dissipation. Also programmable via the serial port are fast, slow and mixed current-decay modes and the current sense comparator blank time. The IC can be put into a sleep mode to minimize power consumption when not in use. Internal circuit protection includes thermal shutdown with hysteresis, crossover-current, and under-voltage lockout circuitry. The A3958SB comes in a 24-pin DIP and the A3958SLB is offered in a 24-lead SOIC package.
