Featuring a DMOS H-bridge capable of handling continuous currents of ±1.5A and operating voltages to 50V, the A3948 DC motor driver IC is controlled via a 3-wire serial port, allowing, according to the manufacturer, maximum flexibility in configuring the internal PWM current control circuitry to match motor driving requirements. Fast, slow and mixed current decay modes, as well the current sense comparator blank time are also programmable via the serial port. The new programmable full-bridge motor driver IC costs $1.96 each/5K. For more details, call Bob Brodeur at ALLEGRO MICROSYSTEMS INC., Worcester, MA. (508) 854-5558.
