Specifically designed for use in battery backup applications where memory hold-up is critical during battery replacement, the Type EDL (Electronic Double Layer) capacitor comes in values from 0.22F to 70F, with voltages ranging from 2.1 to 5.5 Vdc, depending on value. Configurations available include horizontal and vertical radial-leaded stacked coin, a cylindrical case with radial leads, and a surface-mountable package. The device features unlimited charging and discharging capability and extends battery life by up to 1.6 times. The capacitor is designed for a 15-year life. Typical applications include cellular handsets, solar battery backup, small motor starters, gaming machines, real-time clock battery back-up, and remote utility meters.
