Motorola will build out a WiMAX network in Pakistan for telecommunications company Mobilink.

Motorola will build out a WiMAX network in Pakistan for telecommunications company Mobilink. The network, which will be designed, planned, and deployed by Motorola, will cover major metropolitan areas including Islamabad and Lahore. "Motorola was a natural choice to support us in designing and deploying our 802.16e WiMAX network in Pakistan to offer our growing customer base next-generation broadband services," Zouhair Khaliq, president and CEO of Mobilink, said in a statement. Currently, Mobilink's services in Pakistan include cellular and data offerings. The new 802.16e-2005 network will enable Mobilink to add high-speed broadband and VoIP services to that portfolio. This is Motorola's second WiMAX 802.16e network in Pakistan and its fourth in the Middle East and Africa. Motorola and Mobilink have been collaborating on worldwide networking projects for 14 years.
