Designed to serve the commercial space industry where radiation threat is a concern, the 53124 solid-state relay is a single-channel MOSFET optocoupler housed in an 8-pin, hermetic DIP package. Results from radiation testing shows the device exhibits little degradation after exposure to 100 krad of total dose in a cobalt-60 chamber for space applications. The SSR is claimed as ideal circuitry for step motor driver, system power management, switching heaters and as replacements for electromechanical relays. The relay has an identical footprint and electrical characteristics similar to MII 53111 or HSSR 73111 devices.
