Based on DMOS technology, the A3936 three-phase brushless DC motor controller/driver boasts of 3A outputs and on-chip commutation logic, as well as PWM motor current control, low RDS(on) DMOS outputs, on-chip synchronous rectification of the DMOS outputs, 3V and 5V logic voltage compatibility, and configurable low, fast and mixed-decay modes. A tachometer output is also provided to ease implementation of an external speed control loop, while commutation of the brushless DC motor is said to be easily implemented by supplying the chip with three Hall sensor inputs. The A3936 can operate with motor supply voltages up to 50V and motor winding currents of 3A. The A3936 device is supplied in a 44-lead PLCC with a copper batwing tab, which is at ground potential and needs no electrical isolation. Price: $3.18 each/5K.
