Designed using the XR16C850 UART, the ULTRA 530.LPCI single port PCI bus serial I/O adapter provides a single, field-selectable connection to PLCs, bar code readers, and a host of other data collection devices. The card meets MD1 Low Profile specs, making it especially useful for use where space is at a premium, such as 1U servers, Thin Clients, and Net Appliance applications. This serial PCI RS-232/422/485/530 interface supports standard PC data rates and boasts of top speeds of 921.6 Kbps, with the card’s UART providing a 128 byte FIFO to allow datacomm applications to run error free; an array of enhanced UART options is also available. The ULTRA 530.LPCI also features a Universal Bus (3.3V and 5.0V) and ships with the company’s SeaCOM suite of Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000 drivers. The PCI serial I/O adapter costs $169.
