Responding to user requests, CodeWarrior Development Studio for eight-bit HC(S)08 microcontrollers (MCUs) v5.0 adds features and utilities that boost ease of use, speed, and accessibility. The Fast Track tools now include more than 100 example projects and allow switching target MCUs and the debug/flash programming connection in an open project. They also maximize performance with ANSI C/C++ and compact C++ compilers with more than 60 optimization strategies to reduce code size. Functionality of the C compilers is easily accessible through a Windows-driven GUI. A revamped Device Initialization tool allows users to add their code directly to the project or create a separate text file. Additionally, the inclusion of animated tutorials promises to shorten the learning curve. CodeWarrior Development Studio is available via download at the company's web site, available in three versions: Special Edition with limited 16K C compiler is free of charge, Standard Edition costs $2,394, and the Professional Edition is priced at $4,794.
